Introduction of coeleontra with characteristics


Coeleontrata
These are animals whose body is cylindrical in shape .They are found in water fixed to the substratum. The mouth is provided with tentacle which helps to catch the prey. The tentacle have stinging cells called nematocyst. They are divided into three class namely Hydrozoa, Scyphozoa and Anthozoa Some of the properties of coeleontrata are listed below
1)    They have cylindrical body.
2)    The mouth is provided with tentacles.
3)    They live and grow in water.
4)    They have stinging cells to make the prey senseless.
5)    They are fixed to the substratum.
6)    The mouth of it is called osculum which is used for taking food and for egestion.
7)    They reproduce asexually by fragmentation, budding and also sexually.
8)    The body have well developed canal system.
9)    They are radially symmetrical diploblastic animals with epidermis and gastrodermis.
10)The function of all the body are carried out by tissues and not by organs.
     11)They live in fresh water and marine water.
     12) They show the properties polymorphism which means different forms.
Examples:- Hydra and obelia, jellyfish
